The International Airport Tom Jobim is the largest in Rio, with more than 20 Brazilian and foreign airlines flying domestic and international routes through two terminals.

Terminal 1 is the main gateway, with most airlines, facilities and government agencies. Terminal 2 is a modern new building which caters the Star Alliance group of airlines.

There are several shops on the premises, as well as cash dispensers, exchange services, a post office, luggage lockers, 24- hour drugstores, a cell phone rental booth and even a chapel.

The airport also has a VIP lounge for Diners Club cardholders. Duty- free shops are available for both arriving and departing passengers. Arriving passengers are allowed to spend up to USD500 on tax- free goods.

A new terminal of passengers, whose capacity of attendance will pass of current 500 a thousand for 800 a thousand passengers per year is planned to be ready in the first semester of 2007.
