If you are an admirer of nature and are of the adventurous type, then you shall enjoy climbing the 2,800 feet mountain from which one has an impressive view of the city and the beaches below.

The mountain was named for its shape, resembling a gávea - the upper part of a ship. Avail any of the fine option that is either to walk on the trails or chose a guided tour to reach the summit. There are some inscriptions on the rocks which is quite a sight. The Rock of the Topsail is an extraordinary natural monument of above sea level gnaisse with granite top going up the 842 meters. The side is simply the biggest block of rock sea of the planet.

Once you have reached the top, you shall have a splendid view of the city of Rio. You shall be able to observe great part of the National Park of the Forest of the Tijuca, the Corcovado, the Pretty Rock, the beaches of Are Conrado, Ipanema, Leblon, Lagoon, Niterói, the Bar of the Tijuca and much more.

At the end of the track, it has the scaling of the carrasqueira, a wall with approximately 30 meters of height. It is advisable to use ropes and adequate equipment of security for undergoing the thrilling adventurous trip.
