The Imperial Palace was built in 1743 by Gomes Freire de Andrada. The palace was used as a residence by Viceroys.

Paco Imperial is a cultural center with a busy agenda of temporary exhibitions, videos and other activities along with a cafe on the inside patio. The main attraction is the building itself, full of historical charm and interesting architectural details that were carefully restored.

Nowadays, this is the palace of Vice- King, the administrative headquarters of the United kingdom of Brazil.

The palace is now used as a multicultural space with intense and diversified programming of arts, cinema, theater, education and music. It has many activities, seminars with services of store and restaurants.

This is a centre that mingles the historical past with art and architecture workmanship.
